ITS#SIX AWARD FOR ICONS UNDERCOVER
Royal College of Art fashion show and ITS#SIX AWARD
2007

During the RCA fashion show end of May 2007 the ICONS UNDERCOVER collection was presented. From June 15th to 28th the pieces were displayed in The Great Exhibition in Hyde Park.

In Trieste they won the prestigious International Talent Support's ITS#SIX ACCESSORIES COLLECTION OF THE YEAR Award which endows me with 10.000 Euro for the making of a new collection.

ICONS UNDERCOVER
MA final collection

Approaching this fashion accessory collection from a product design angle, I adopted techniques used in industrial prototype making (e.g. rapid prototyping (3d computer printing)) and combined them with leather craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Substituting traditional pattern making, I found different ways of constructing bags, reinventing them from scratch.

In my final collection I worked on the classics - the basket, the brief case, the doctor's bag, the evening bow bag, the hat case, the croco bag and suitcase. In the 'Icons Undercover' collection hardware attachments, buckles and locks were moulded and abstracted to purely decoration. Suede, patent and very soft glove leathers were adorned with silver plated handles. A small copper purse with magnetic closure completes this contemporary ensemble

conceptual design for a detergent for Unilever
2002

Lume™ is a new kind of detergent, more a gift to yourself than just a prosaic washing powder. It turns doing the laundry into an experience.
Stella - touchable textile ad
2001

Stella is a concept for a women’s fashion brand inspired by the 50ies. The collection is accompanied by print ads which are not only printed on paper but includes printing on textiles.
spatial concept inspired by viktor & rolf
2003

Viktor and Rolf have made several astonishing collections. Their work is very sculptural and theatrical. The thus inspired spatial concept is one of accentuated perspectives. The visitor climbs a temple like stair under an enormous bell which's sound could reach the whole city and shakes the adjacent 'grachtenpanden' of Amsterdam.
solid poetry & liquid affection
graduation project 2004 - cum laude

Whenever the weather change the landscape transforms, the light becomes different and the whole atmosphere changes. All materials seem to alter. In my project I explore the possibilities for hidden design appearing as the environment changes. I applied techniques to enduring and solid materials as glass (liquid affection) and concrete (solid poetry), so that natural processes like differences in temperature causing condense reveal patterns on windows. Rain uncovers decoration on a city square. The possible applications of solid poetry and liquid affection are various: either at home in the bathroom, in the garden, in saunas and dance clubs, where the humidity is high or public spaces like bus stops or pavements. All forms of solid poetry have in common that they change the whole setting; they are surprising and have a life of their own.

porte-mémoire
graduation project 2004 - cum laude

The tradition of family coat of arms, diaries and family silver intrigues me. Nevertheless I hardly ever wondered about my own ancestors. porte-mémoire is a set with components to create family jewellery. The parts of porte-mémoire can be filled with precious pieces which do not necessarily have a monetary value - a personal treasure for milk teeth, the first love letter and hair curls or the grandparent’s wedding rings. With every element of the jewellery a family member leaves a relic of his live for his descendants. In time the collection grows, leaving signs of sentiment.

pure
first ma project 2005

The pure collection is inspired on the archetype shapes of plastic and paper bags. This black sheepskin bag is foldable and has a magnetic system which allows the bag to stand on itself. The handle shows an embossed logo.
Bower Roebuck
tailoring project 2006

For the tailoring bag Bower Roebuck tailoring fabrics were used. The trimming is brown leather, all the braiding is green edge dyed. The collection is inspired on English country life as well as hunting and fishing equipment.
Miss Selfridge
40th anniversary 2006

Miss Selfrigde asked for a collection inspired by a style from the past 40 years. The 1960ies with simple shapes and furniture and garments created from one piece inspired a whole collection of bags and purses which zip up in different ways to become 3d. These two bags are invertible, patent leather on the outside and felt on the inside or vice versa. The embossed graphic on the outside is a piece of the Braille 'Miss Selfridge 40 Years' logo which is completely punched in the felt on the inside.
precollection
2006

My precollection was inspired by wonderful 1930's sports cars. The bags are moulded and covered with patent leather. The pattern pieces were riveted to give them an industrial look. Soft suede complements the shininess of the patent.

Siemens Mobile Designlab
2003

International project with 10 students from 5 different countries in Munich, Germany, including a trip to Shanghai, China. During the Munich Design Parcours the participants created an exhibition with the theme ‘architecture and communication – utopia’. My project HUMAN TOUCH deals with communication at distance without using words. It enables you to live together with your family although you do not live in the same city. The HUMAN TOUCH enables remote togetherness.

Interests
In design the iconic and archetype shapes influence my work. I draw inspiration from
films that moved me and journeys I made. Dance and art fascinate me.

Designing means to me to be able to express the world's beautiful and intriguing sides.
